Another Day, Another Adventure

We spend most of our free time on one adventure or another. Whether it is checking out a new vacation destination and marking another state off our list, or trying out something new, there is never a dull moment-and we wouldn't have it any other way.

Fall Break Husker Adventure

Fall Break Adventure

We had some airline miles to use up and as I was looking at trips we could take, I noticed that we could fly from Denver to Madison the weekend of our fall break-which also happened to be the weekend Nebraska played Wisconsin in football. So, I booked the flights and bought football tickets...this was June. Flash forward a few months and our Huskers are 7-0 going into the game. I'd like to say it was good planning, but it was dumb luck!

I have lots of versions of this but can't resist it!
We were supposed to fly American Airlines and had a layover in Chicago. Our flight was delayed getting into Chicago so the lovely people at AA booked us a non-stop flight into Madison on United. Not a. Ad trade!! Then we got to security and saw this:
If you've ever flown out of DIA, you know how rare this is!
Then, our good travel fortune continued as they gave us a free upgrade to an SUV (if you can call a Kia Sorento an SUV).

After we arrived in Madison, we looked at the news to see this. Luckily, this wasn't our flight, and everyone was ok. Looks like we missed another delay here!

 Alumni Gathering

We headed to the Great Dane Brewing Company for the UNL Alumni gathering. Lots of people there.  Some were current Nebraskans some only lived there during college. Mason and Bryan competed in the trivia competition.

This lady would see Mason the next day on a random street in Madison and greet him by name.

Touring Madison

Mason saw the state capitol and thought it looked cool so we decided to tour it on Saturday morning. We learned lots about Wisconsin through the tour. Our guide was a geologist so he told us lots of cool facts about the stone and even showed us some of the fossils in the marble, sandstone and limestone.

On the square around the capitol, there was a farmers market. We saw lots of fresh produce, pastries and of course cheese!

Pregame

We made it down to Camp Randall Stadium in time to enjoy some pregame festivities. We had a great experience meeting Badger fans. It was fun to hear from those who had been to Lincoln and were treated so well. We didn't have a negative experience with any fans, which is saying something since we were there during "FreakFest" their Halloween celebration. We did avoid that area as we didn't want to try to explain college kids on Halloween....

More Pregame

We got into the stadium early since we had no clue where our seats are. Once we got to our seats, we were pleasantly surprised with aisle seats with a great view!
Camp Randall!
We met up with a friend who showed us where to greet the team as they came out. Both boys were thrilled to get to high five Coach Riley! We even got to stand by the tunnel as they ran on to the field. Some with a careful eye saw them on BTN.
Bryans

Hey Coach!
Hail Varsity got a great shot of them.
LOVE THIS!!

Game Time

We enjoyed a great game. It didn't end how we wanted it to, but we got to see a heck of a game.

Proof we were there....I guess!

Post Game

After we were done we waited for the players to come out. Mason was too nervous to go up to any of the players, while Sam wanted to pounce on them all! Shout out to Josh Banderas who walked up to Mason, gave him a glove and thanked him for coming. Mason's jaw about hit the ground and he was speechless. He could barely raise his hand to get it from Josh.  This is one of the reasons we love our Huskers-they give us someone to look up to.
Still in shock!
Westie!!!
Our fall adventure has ended, but our memories will last a lifetime. Off to the next adventure....
